Rehearsals for the 2010/11 season begin on Saturday, September 18.

Senior Mixed (Grades 9-12)

Saturdays at U-32 High School

Singers at this level will be asked to demonstrate a high level of musical proficiency both within the ensemble and as soloists. The concepts of self-evaluation and active critical thinking will be central to this group’s progress. Along with work inside the rehearsals, singers will be expected to work at home learning their music and evaluating pre-recorded performances. When possible field trips will be arranged to see other live performances in hopes of establishing a broad understanding of the choral and vocal arts. A disciplined approach to work will be required at this level and students will be expected to stay focused and engaged in the process of solving musical problems and performing artistically. At this point students will be taught to have a deep awareness of choral tone, color, balance and vocal technique. Repertoire will be challenging and performing it will be extremely rewarding. These students will function as an inspiration to younger singers and will, to the degree possible, perform an outreach function for the entire program.
