OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASEFollowing on the heels of last month’s highly successful cabaret “AN EVENING WITH COLE PORTER” Café Noir Productions will present “BAD APPLES ON BROADWAY, SONGS FROM THEATER’S GREATEST VILLAINS.” There will be two performances of this Cabaret at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. on Friday, February 20, 2009 at Timbers Restaurant, Sugarbush Resort. “BAD APPLES ON BROADWAY” will be the second installment of the Inner Circle Cabaret series that is being produced by Cafe Noir and sponsored by the Sugarbush Resort.
“Generally speaking we want the good guys to win in the end, but when it comes to musicals the villains often get the best songs. So, why not have a cabaret based on these blockbuster numbers,” said musical director Piero Bonamico. The artistic team led by director Stefanie Weigand compiled a list of songs from shows like: The Music Man, Les Miserables, Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods, The Little Mermaid, Wicked and more. This performance will feature vocals by Andrea Bonamico, Sharon Dube, Karl Klein and Scott Weigand, with cameo appearances by Piero Bonamico and director Stefanie Weigand. The singers will be backed up by a piano trio with Peter Williams on bass and Sean Beatty on drums.
Sharon Dube, who has coordinated the efforts with Sugarbush, has worked to create a true cabaret environment in Timbers Restaurant. You can eat before, during or even after the show or simply relax with a glass of wine and listen to the music. “By adding some theatrical lighting and arranging the seating properly we have created a unique entertainment experience. We hope that people will come see this little slice of New York nightlife, right here in the Mad River Valley.”
Show tickets are $15 or $12 for Sugarbush Season Pass Holders, Clay Brook Residence owners and MRC and Co. members (formerly MRC Bundy members). Last month’s show sold out with over thirty left on the waiting list, therefore it is advisable to call (800) 53-SUGAR for reservations.
Cafe Noir Productions is a division of MRC and Company, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization based in Waitsfield, Vermont. MRC and Co. recently changed its name from MRC Bundy, Inc. in conjunction with its decision not to extend its lease of the Bundy Gallery in Waitsfield. MRC and Co. recently elected Sheila Ware to serve as its President and Jack Mansfield to serve as Vice President. Ms. Ware said “the purpose and goals of the organization have and will remain constant. We will continue to operate as the umbrella organization for the Mad River Chorale, Kids Chorale, Café Noir Productions and A Cappella Singers and are looking forward to presenting our upcoming events in venues around the Valley and beyond.”
PLEASE NOTE: Although you can order your tickets online we would prefer it if you contact Sugarbush Directly at 1(800) 53-SUGAR. They are handling these reservations and have the up-to-date information on seating. If you are a Mad River Chorale (formerly MRC Bundy, Inc.) member, Sugarbush Season Pass Holder, or Clay Brook Owner you can reserve your tickets at Sugarbush for $12. Reserve you tickets early. This show will sell out.
