For its first post-Bundy event, the Mad River Chorale subsidiary Café Noir Productions is pleased to present three exciting cabarets at Sugarbush Resort’s Timbers Restaurant.

"An Evening with Cole Porter" will kick off the 2009 Inner Circle Cabaret Series Friday, January 30 with shows at 6:30 and 8:30. This revue of some of Cole Porter’s most notable songs features singers Scott and Stefanie Weigand, Sharon Dubé and Karl Klein, backed up by musical director Piero Bonamico on piano, Peter Williams on bass and Sean Beatty on drums. The show includes favorites like "I Get a Kick Out of You," "So In Love,"  "You’d Be So Nice To Come Home To," "Night and Day" and many more. Director Andrea Bonamico wanted the show to include Cole Porter favorites alongside a few surprises. “There are a couple of songs in the program that we think will be unknown to most. But in some ways they have become our favorites.”

Musical director Piero Bonamico is arranging the songs for the trio. “Many of these songs have become jazz standards and are approached far differently than they were in the original theater productions. This gives us the opportunity to be flexible with the tempo, key and overall feeling of each selection… we can simultaneously honor the original composition and give the performers an opportunity to do something unique.”

Café Noir productions artistic director Scott Weigand is excited about the whole series. “We are working with a great team and looking forward to creating an actual cabaret environment in Timbers. The whole crew there is easy to work with and we know everyone is going to have a great time.” Weigand has developed three shows for this initial series. The two that follow the January 30 performance are “Bad Apples on Broadway: Songs of Broadway Villains” on February 20, and “Music of the Night: the songs of Andrew Lloyd Webber” on March 20.

Seating will be limited so reservations are highly recommended. “The Mad River Chorale and its subsidiaries have sold out every event we have produced at Sugarbush so I think we will do very well with this series.” Said Board of Directors Treasurer Jane Hobart. “People had better call right away.” Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door (if there are any remaining). Guests will be able to dine at Timbers before, during or after the show and should make their intentions clear when making their reservations. Guests should call 800 53-SUGAR to reserve or for more information.
