Songs for a New World
Songs for a New World by Jason Robert Brown
This piece focuses on the vulnerable and momentous occasions that shape each character's life. More than a review and different than a song cycle, each actor has their own solo numbers and share the stage in many group songs.
Composer Jason Robert Brown says of his work, “It's about one moment. It's about hitting the wall and having to make a choice, or take a stand, or turn around and go back."
This production features visiting artist John Hager, who comes to us from NYC. Director Scott Weigand, music director Stefanie Weigand and our intern Renee Myers round out the professional cast. They are joined by two alternating student casts: Kaitlin Daley, Adeline Dettor, Jared Felch, Moira Hammel, Jacob Minter, Savannah Morehouse, Sarah Plante, Brendan Striebe and Rachel Wilson. All supported by Tim Guiles, the staff accompanist for both of this summer's Side By Side programs. Tim is joined by Peter Williams (bass) and Jane Boxall (drums)
