Timothy Guiles
Tim's musical life started in Maine where he took piano lessons for 6 years when he was young. Most of the rest of Tim's training has come along the way - - - by doing. He played for his school choral groups and developed a love for accompanying. While in highschool, his summer job was as the musical director of a local summer theater which employed mostly vacationing NY equity actors - - - which was quite an education. In college, Tim was pleased to be involved with the pre-broadway production of "Working". During the next musical phase of Tim's life, acappella singing became the focus - - - first through competitive Barbershop quarteting, then shifting to jazz acappella. Musical theater work in Vermont crops up now and then, and 5 of the more notable productions were "Sweeney Todd" and "A Little Night Music" at the Lost Nation Theater, "Les Mis" at Spaulding High School, and "The Last 5 Years" and "Miss Saigon" at the Bundy in Waitsfield.Tim is the accompanist for the Barre Town Elementary School choruses directed by Peg Mehuron, the Mad River Chorale directed by Piero Bonamico, and the Vermont Symphony Orchestra Chorus under the direction of Bob Decormier. Currently he pursues his love of close harmony by directing the Mad River Chorale Acappella singers. In addition to playing the piano, Tim enjoys logging and tutoring in math.
On a different note, Tim has an interest in sustainability issues, both environmental and social. His most recent endeavor in this arena involves very small houses which you can see online at YesWeeCabins.com.
